Cadets from the Cadet Leaders Course
got to have a little fun at the Blue Licks Community Pool these past
two days learning water survival skills, and just having a little
fun. They started out simply swimming more than ¾ the way from the
shallow to the deep with just a “rubber duck” M-16 replica while
wearing their ACUs and boots. After that, they donned a combat vest
and weapon, and dove into the deep, where they had to ditch the
weapon and vest before their heads came back up to the surface.
Finally they learned how to turn their ACU pants into floatation
devices. But once the work was over, it was time to play in the
pool. I heard some of the Cadets say it was one of the most fun
events they'd participated in so far. Yours truly got to toss an
unsuspecting Cadet or two into the pool for fun. I'm actually
surprised they didn't seek revenge...maybe because I had a camera in
my hands?!? Oh well. But fun was had by all, and for a short time,
Cadets were allowed to be kids for a while.
